Verona Eagles D team Beats East Hanover - October 10, 2009
The Verona Eagles D team travelled to East Hanover on Saturday, October 10 to play the Hornets and came home with a 20-0 victory. Andrew Tracy, Zander Zebrowski and Ryan Stanisci scored touchdowns and Steven Luehs and Andrew Emanualidis provided the extra points on strong runs as the Eagles put up all their points in the first half. Shane Lawless and Robert Sposato ran hard all afternoon. Nicholas Coppola, Jack Kirby and Griffin Jordan paved the way for the backs with great blocking. Adam Renna, Derek Jocelyn and Patrick Yeates anchored the defense. Great tackling was provided by Brady Swanstrom, Brian McKeen and Samuel Zamloot.
The Verona Eagles D team hosted the Livingston Lancers on October 17th at Centennial Field in Verona and recorded a come from behind 20-14 victory. The go ahead touchdown was scored with one minute to go on a quarterback sneak by Zander Zebrowski from the one foot line. Richard DiGeronimo, Isaac Skrivanic and Nicholas Gonzalez provided the surge needed for the score and Andrew Tracy scored on a sweep to complete the two point conversion. Christian Dionisio, Jordan Warner and Jayson Despecci opened holes for the backs all day. Ryan Huze and Jake McConnachie both had sacks of the opposing quarterback. Tommy Mulligan, Will Gaccione and Gavin Tremper had multiple tackles.
9/14/2008 Verona Eagles D Team
The Verona Eagles D team won their season opener on Sunday. In a tight contest with the Montville Broncos the Eagles earned a 7-6 victory on a touchdown by Tommy Sharkey and an extra point conversion by Matthew Frungillo. The Eagles scored early in the first half and the Broncos replied with a touchdown of there own. The Eagles defense stopped the extra point. The Bronco's offense faced a formidable defense in the Eagles squad, anchored by Nicholas Riggio, PJ Jordan, as well as Sharkey and Frungillo. While the Broncos gained yardage, the Eagles defense always fought back. The Eagles offense played very good football against a noticeably larger-sized defense. The opener brings much hope for the team.

The Eagles D Team will be playing the Livingston Jr. Lancers this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Centennial Field. Come out and show your support for the young footballers in their initiation into the glory of the game.
10/7/07 Verona Eagles D team lost 24 – 0 against a strong West Essex squad.
Kellner, Frungillo, Powell, Aldiero, Lavery, Wallace, Priscoe, Galluccio, McKeown, Swanstorm, Jackson, Ramsthaler, Carsillo, Feury, Gibson, Johnson, Cresci, Cariani, Luehs and Fauerbach all gave it their best but
West Essex held them from moving the ball.
The Eagles D team looks to improve their record this Sunday against East Hanover.

The Verona Eagles D Team came out ahead over the East Hanover Hornets
12 to 6 in East Hanover on Tuesday evening.
During the 1st half of the game CJ Lavery received a handoff from Brendan Powell to score the 1st touchdown of the game, putting Verona up 6-0; however, the conversion failed.
The Eagles defense answered with a play for the ages. The defensive line surged through the opposition’s line and into the backfield. On a play that occurs very rarely at any level of football, Jack Swanstrom stole the ball from the quarterback’s hand and ran the other way for a 20 yard touchdown putting the Eagles up 12-0 at the half.
The Verona offensive & defensive squads powered by: Nick Galluccio, Steven Priscoe, Brendan McKeown, Brendan Wallace, Nick Riggio, Matt Frungillo, Tom Kellner, Matt Aldiero, Tyler Jackson, Dean Ramsthaler, Mike Carsillo, Brian Feury, Daniel Gibson, Michael Johnson, Brandon Cariani, Billy Fauerbach and Andrew Luehs earned a hard fought victory.
The Eagles D Team looks to continue their winning ways this Sunday at Centennial Field against West Essex.

The Verona Eagles D Team lost a hard fought contest to the Florham Park Falcons 18 – 13 in FlorhamPark.
The Falcons opened the scoring with a 30 yard touchdown march after recovering an Eagles fumble; however the 1 point conversion failed. Falcons 6 Verona 0.
The Eagles answered with a 50 yard touchdown strike from CJ Lavery to Dean Ramsthaler and tacked on the 1 point conversion.The Falcons retaliated with a 70 yard touchdown run and failed on another 1 point conversion. Falcons 12 – Eagles 7.
The strong Eagle defense forced two fumbles, both recovered by Ben Cresci.A strong effort by:Nicholas Riggio, Matthew Frungillo, Michael Carsillo, Thomas Kellner, Tyler Jackson, Billy Fauerback, Brandon Cariani, Michael Johnson, Daniel Gibson and Matthew Aldiero held the Falcons scoreless for the remainder of the 1st half.
The Eagles added a long touchdown pass from Brendan Powell to CJ Lavery at the end of the 2nd quarter.The conversion was no good. Halftime score:Eagles 13 – Falcons 12
The Verona offense, which was efficient for the majority of the day anchored by:Ben Cresci, Brendan McKeown, Brendan Wallace, Brian Feury, Nicholas Galluccio, Steven Priscoe, Jack Swanstrom, CJ Lavery, Dean Ramsthaler and Andrew Luehs orchestrated a 69 yard run down to the Eagles 1 yard line; however could not punch it in the score.
After taking over on downs, the Falcons scored a 98 yard touchdown run putting them ahead 18 -13. Verona took over with 5:30 left on the clock, however could not take advantage of good field position. It was an outstanding effort on both sides of the ball.Verona looks to get back on track Saturday in East Hanover.

The Verona Eagles D team squad and a feisty Fairfield Falcons squad battled on Sunday at Centennial field with Verona coming out on top 14 -12.Fairfield began the scoring with a first quarter touchdown, however missing the extra point.Verona quickly rebounds with a long touchdown run by CJ Lavery who also adds the extra point putting Verona ahead 7-6 behind the nice blocking of Jack Swanstrom, Brendan McKeown, Andrew Luehs, Ben Cresci, Brandon Cariani, Billy Fauerbach, Steven Priscoe, Brendan Wallace, Tyler Jackson, Brian Feury, Michael Carsillo, Nicholas Galluccio and Dean Ramsthaler.
Fairfield opens the 2nd half with a touchdown and missed extra point staying ahead 12-7.
The Eagles answered with a long drive which ended in a touchdown run by Dean Ramsthaler.A successful extra point on a pass from Quarterback Brendan Powell to Dean Ramsthaler put the Eagles ahead 14-12.
The Verona defense led by Matthew Frungillo, Daniel Gibson, Matthew Aldiero, Michael Carsillo, Michael Johnson, Billy Fauerbach, Tyler Jackson, Brian Feury, Brandon Cariani, Nicholas Riggio, Thomas Kellner, Andrew Luehs, Brendan Powell, Brendan McKeown, Dean Ramsthaler and CJ Lavery held off a late Fairfield drive which ended in a Brendan Powell interception.
